​Plans for our 2017 Annual Convention are nearing completion... Set aside September 8th-10th to be at Hilton Norfolk-The Main in Norfolk, VA. The Convention Committee has assembled components for an informative  & fun program..a great location, two days worth of industry specific educational programs, fantastic social events, and the business program to let you known what YOUR Association is working on—at the SAME registration rate as 2016!  Home to the world's largest naval base, Norfolk has undergone spectacular changes within the past ten years. Hilton Norfolk-The Main is Norfolk’s newest premier destination! The newly renovated and expanded Waterside District waits just out Hilton Norfolk-The Main’s backdoor. Waterside is Norfolk’s premier dining and entertainment district offering music, festivals, food, and more. 

The Convention officially starts FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 8 at 10:30am. Registration will open on hour prior. The 59th Annual Convention agenda offers exciting opportunities to mingle with Virginia’s key administration, departmental, and industry contacts. An optional Port Tour is being offered on a first-come, first-serve basis (requires additional registration). Over the two days, topics will include sessions addressing the how-to’s of exporting, finesses of international marketing, information regarding financial assistance available to the industry, and MUCH MORE! Hilton Norfolk-The Main beckons you with warm welcomes and great activities steeped with Southern hospitality and elegant charm in beautiful waterside Norfolk. The highlight of the weekend promises to be Saturday's dinner cruise on the "Spirit of Norfolk." Boarding from the dock just blocks from Hilton Norfolk-the Main, this magnificent ship will thrill you with its sleek design and elegant decor as we cruise one of the most beautiful and interesting harbors in the world. Cocktails, (sponsored by the 2017 Meeting Hospitality Fund Shareholders) and a full buffet style-dinner will be served to enhance your enjoyment of the cruise. 

Presentations are being finalized and tweaked to accommodate speakers and members efficiently. A preliminary schedule is provided so you might plan your arrival and departure in Norfolk. After a full day of educational opportunities, Friday evening kicks off with the traditional Official Welcoming Reception at 6:30pm (sponsored by the 2017 Meeting Hospitality Fund Shareholders) followed by dinner on your own in one of the many offerings in and around downtown Norfolk, Hilton Norfolk-The Main, or the Waterside District.

Saturday morning’s Program begins with Breakfast with Bettina, providing a chance for the industry to greet the day with a light continental offering of pastries, coffees, and tea while State Forester Ring provides her forecast for the forest products businesses of the Commonwealth. Secretary of Ag & Forestry Dr. Basil Gooden will update the industry on the opportunities available across the globe to Virginia’s forest products businesses and his reflection upon the growth and opportunities in our industry. Chairman of the Board, Brian Combs will preside over the 59th Annual Meeting of the Association, where members can learn of Association legislative successes from 2017 and initiatives in 2018. Following the Business Session, sector specific presentations will offer in depth review of Cross Laminated Timber and what YOUR forest products business needs to know about this emerging industry. To wrap up Saturday, the Association’s most requested speaker, economist Dr. Ed Seifried shares his expert assessment of our industry’s economic future. 

Saturday afternoon enjoy the many attractions that Norfolk has to offer ~ Nauticus, The Hampton Roads Naval Museum or the USS Wisconsin are within walking distance. Or spend Saturday afternoon relaxing. Saturday evening’s dinner cruise on the Spirit of Norfolk leaves the dock promptly at 7:45pm. Sleep late Sunday morning, enjoy Waterside or just relax and enjoy Norfolk before heading home. The 2017 Annual Convention promises to be a GREAT one! Registration Form - The official conference registration form. Please register and include fees for industry personnel, spouses, children and guests. THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL REGISTRATION FORM FOR THE PORT TOUR if requesting (HERE to download). Be sure to register by August 25, 2017 for inclusion in the Official Registration List.
Hotel Reservation Instructions - Don’t delay!! The deadline for hotel registration is August 15th; book your rooms by calling 757-763-6200 or by visiting VFPA’s custom reservation portal at https://goo.gl/wl6Fw0. When calling, be sure to mention "Virginia Forest Products Association". Rooms are available NOW at the phenomenal rate of $149 per night.
ADDITIONAL SHARP Logger Credit Information- SHARP Logger is coordinating a 3 CE credit class for Required “SHARP Logger Update” class to be held in conjunction with VFPA’s Convention. More information will be available June 1, 2017.  Separate Registration is required. (Here for link).
